So it seems colour correcting is the new trendy makeup fad. But it can also be very useful to help complete your look or combat unwanted redness that your foundation just can't cover. I'll go through the most common colour correcting products and explain how they work and what it can do for you. If you feel like this is too much for you, don't worry it's not necessary. I would only recommend this if you have very problematic skin or want to look completely flawless. I think most brands now have come out with their own colour correcting products, so it shouldn't be hard to pick up a product!
So by looking at a basic colour wheel you can see how colour correcting works. The colour you are wanting to combat, you use the colour on the opposite side of the wheel. Even with this basic understanding, you are now an expert on colour correcting! But you can keep reading to see how to use the products for each problem.
Green
I felt it would be best to start with green because it is used to combat redness, which is a common problem from people. You can have redness from anything from Rosacea to that annoying blemish that you just can't cover with regular concealer. It is best to use this before you go in with your foundation and concealer since it will be extremely green on your face and you don't want to have to put on another layer of concealer.
Purple
Purple is used to combat dullness or yellow. This is great for bringing life to your face. Using this in a stick form works but I think it works better in a powder so you can cover a larger area and you don't have to wear it under foundation.
Orange or Peach
Oranges and peaches are used to help with dark circles since they are usually blue. This is really only for people that have extremely dark circles under your eyes. If yours are still fairly light using regular concealer should work just fine. If you have a darker skin tone, go ahead and use an orange. If you are fair I would suggest a peach, it will do the same thing but not look so dark on your face.
